New Delhi: The type of spying on WhatsApp was fierce after it was revealed. Officials, journalists and human rights activists from many countries were reported to have been hacked with the help of an Israeli spyware. After this, the number of users who downloaded WhatsApp in India has dropped by 80 percent.

According to Business Standard Censor Tower data, the number of users who downloaded WhatsApp from October 17 to October 25 was more than 80 lakh. However, between October 26 and November 3, 3 lakh people said that WhatsApp was downloaded.
The Israeli company says we sell our spyware only to governments or government intelligence agencies. We have never received any such spyware from this company, says the Indian government. The question, then, about whom the spying was done, remains unanswered.

On the one hand, there is a demand for a transparent system of precisely finding out where such a nuisance originates in the cyber world. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has given the government three months to curb the abuse of social media.
