Chennai: An accused who shared a morph photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook will have to stay away from Facebook for a year. Jabin Charles, accused of being a Kanyakumari resident, had filed a affidavit with the Madras High Court stating that he would be one year away from Facebook.




Jabin Charles, who lives in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu, shared the post on social media a month ago. It contained an objectionable photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After seeing the post, BJP official Nanjil Raja lodged a complaint with the police and the case reached the court.

On October 11, Vadasari police in Kanyakumari registered a case against Jabin under Section 5050 (2) and Section 27B of the Information Technology Act 2000. Jabeen Charles went to the Madras High Court to seek interim bail. He submitted in affidavit that he would stay away from social media for another year.
