WASHINGTON: Due to the US President Donald Trump administration's highly restrictive policies, the rate of rejection of H-2B applications has increased significantly this year compared to five. According to a study by American think tank, H-2B applications of well-known Indian IT companies have been most rejected. A Washington news agency has made that clear.

The present administration is unfairly targeting Indian companies. According to a study conducted by the National Foundation for American Policy, six percent of H-2B applications were rejected, while the rate has increased by 24 percent in the current financial year. This report is based on data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Service or USCIS.

Only 1% of H-2B applications filed for initial jobs in Amazon, Microsoft, Intel and Google were rejected. In 19, the rate was six, eight, seven and three percent respectively. According to the report, during the same period, the rate of Tech Mahindra has gone up from 4 per cent to 4 per cent, from 2 per cent for Tata Consultancy Services, to seven per cent to 7 per cent for Wipro and only 2 per cent for Infosys.

For at least 3 companies that provide IT services or business to other US companies, including Accenture, Capgemini, the rejection rate has exceeded 30 percent in the first three quarters of 19. For most of these companies, the rate was between two and seven percent. Indian IT companies also had the highest percentage of rejection of H-2B applications filed for continued employment.

On the other hand, the rejection of applications filed for continued employment at reputed US companies is low. According to the report, inability of employment has increased from 6 per cent to 5 per cent during the period from 1-9 to 9 per cent, while between 1 and 9 it has never been more than eight per cent. The main goal of the Trump administration is to make it more difficult for educated foreigners to find jobs in the US science and engineering.
